Despite coming away with another loss on the board, it’s not all pessimism amongst these Newcastle United fans after a 1-0 loss to Chelsea at the weekend, with DeAndre Yedlin getting praise for his defensive performance.
Is Steve Bruce as bad as was made out to be when he was appointed?
The American defender has recently returned to the fold following surgery on a groin injury close to the end of last season, with the full-back edging back to full fitness having played every minute of the Magpies’ last two Premier League fixtures.
Despite having a huge task on his hands keeping winger Callum Hudson-Odoi at bay, Yedlin was one of the standout players for Newcastle – with one moment standing out above all others.
Chelsea, looking to round off a dominant display with the second goal of the game, were thwarted by the USA international’s phenomenal block on the line when Tammy Abraham found the back of the net gaping.
Such was the brilliance of this clearance from Yedlin, some Newcastle supporters have flocked to praise the right-back for his efforts to keep it 1-0.
There is always going yo be some great defending when that's is what is done for majority of the game. Must say when going forward we actually moved the ball quicker at times but surrendered possession to easy
