Newcastle United: Fans react to Mike Ashley claim that he wants to buy David Gold’s stake in West Ham United

Plenty of Newcastle United fans have been reacting to a claim from robbiejamesking (via WEST HAM TALK) that Mike Ashley is keen on buying David Gold’s 45% stake in West Ham United.
This would make David Sullivan and Ashley the main decision makers at London Stadium as the latter is apparently keen to return to a football club already and is looking to invest the money from the prospective sale at St. James’ Park.
Indeed, the Saudi-led consortium has not yet been able to take Newcastle from the hands of Ashley but, if this claim is true, then it could prove to be a significant step in finally getting the takeover over the line.
The deal would effectively end the Sports Direct CEO’s reign of 13 years in the northeast, as the would-be owners consisting of Saudi Arabian crown prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS), businesswoman Amanda Staveley and the billionaire Reuben brothers would be all set to become co-owners of the Tyneside club.

As a Newcastle fan, I’m not massively keen on West Ham. But I do not wish Mike Ashley on any club and I hope that this news is not true
