After a fairly successful frantic festive period for the Newcastle United fans here in the Transfer Tavern, life is pretty good again. Now, our punters clad in black and white are hoping some January investment can change the course of their campaign.
Still, as exciting as the idea of bringing in some new players is, many of our resident Geordies are discussing the fate of two individuals currently at St. James’ Park. Indeed, while neither Rob Elliot of Karl Darlow have enjoyed a particularly good season in goal for the Magpies on the whole, their performances of late have been something to shout about.
Elliot kept Newcastle in the game for long periods against Manchester City, while Darlow looks to have recovered from his shaky early season form and was crucial in helping Newcastle win a crunch six-pointer against Stoke City on New Year’s Day. Perhaps a new shot-stopper will be brought in over the next few weeks, though both are doing their bit again, it seems.
With that in mind, we’re asking our Toon-mad readers, should Elliot or Darlow be considered the club’s No.1?
