Newcastle United: Ki Sung-yueng move attracts debate from Magpies supporters

Responding to a piece by the Chronicle detailing the feelings surrounding Ki Sung-yueng’s deadline day move to Real Mallorca, many Newcastle fans have been in full debate on Twitter over whether or not they should have sold the midfielder – with one supporter claiming that he is ‘better than Bentaleb‘.
Ki, who first joined Newcastle in the 2018 summer transfer window from Swansea City, found game-time hard to come by at St James’ Park, making just 21 league appearances in two and a half seasons before deciding to terminate his contract by mutual consent.
During his limited outings this campaign before the move, the South Korean midfielder managed to accumulate an impressive 94% pass accuracy from inside his own half over the 136 minutes he played (SofaScore). However, due to his limited game-time, it is hard to compare him to loanee Nabil Bentaleb, who has averaged more tackles (2.3) and interceptions (3.3) in a Newcastle shirt this season, as per WhoScored.com.
