Since coming out in full support of manager Steve Bruce over the last few months, backing him to succeed in Rafa Benitez’ place, there has been some back and forth between Richard Keys and a section of Newcastle United supporters – with the pundit’s latest verdict getting another sharp response from the fans.
Keys, who is currently a beIN SPORTS anchor, backed Bruce to replace departed boss Benitez in successful fashion – and it appears that he may have been right given the Magpies’ commendable run of form over the last month.
Who should start for Newcastle, Joelinton or Andy Carroll?
In his latest beIN SPORTS blog via the Chronicle, the former Sky Sports presenter has praised Bruce for somewhat proving his doubters wrong and highlighting the fact Benitez isn’t the only manager who can take the club forward.
Keys also fired back at Magpies supporters, hinting that he does not expect the ‘abuse’ to stop, despite his wishes, but hopes Newcastle continue to have a good season anyway.
In response, some fans, in hilarious Geordie fashion, went back in on the pundit – here’s what they had to say on Twitter.
He deserves to get abuse like Mike Ashley and his puppets does

I think Richard Keys wants to remember how at every opportunity he tried to wind up the @NUFC Supporters!

This points comparison to last season Is stupid. Bruce has had Almiron and Saint Maximan from the start of the season. They are key to the counter attacking system working. Rafa had us 7th best in the 2nd half of last season after Almiron arrived. I’ve nothing against Bruce btw.
