Chronicle Live journalist Lee Ryder has criticised Newcastle United defender Fabian Schar and his team-mates following their 4-0 loss to Arsenal.
It was a bad day in the office all round for the Magpies, but Ryder took issue with Schar particularly as the 28-year-old and the rest of the team succumbed to a hammering at the Emirates. Speaking on the Everything is Black and White podcast, he said: “It’s just switching off and there’s no excuse really.
“The fourth goal, Fabian Schar just come on the pitch, should be fresh, he should be running around, you should be on your toes and he just gave up.” Indeed, it was not a good day for Schar, who picked up a disappointing match rating of 6.0 on WhoScored.
Should Isaac Hayden have been dropped for Nabil Bentaleb?
The Switzerland international also failed to make a single tackle or win a header, though he was only on the pitch for a short time after coming on as a second-half substitute.
Nevertheless, Schar and Co will know that they have to perform much better in the future if they want to avoid getting caught up in this fierce relegation battle at the bottom.
