The Toon Army are fuming after Sky Sports’ Keith Downie revealed Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dubravka faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after a scan showed knee ligament damage.
Dubravka has made the most saves in the English top flight this season, stopping 117 shots, some distance ahead of his nearest rival Bernd Leno on 104 (Premier League).
The 31-year-old has played in 29 games in the Premier League under Magpies boss Steve Bruce, only conceding 41 goals and keeping 9 clean sheets. Dubravka’s market value is priced at just £6.3m via Transfermarkt.
Downie shared the disappointing news via his Twitter account:
Martin Dubravka facing 6-8 weeks on the sidelines after scan on Monday showed knee ligament injury. The keeper set to miss the majority of Newcastle’s league and cup run in #NUFC

Bruce’s side face Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City at St James’ Park later this month in the FA Cup quarter finals. Many Geordies would have been hopeful that the Slovakian would have been fit to face the Blues’ attacking firepower.
Understandably the latest news has prompted angry reactions from loads of Magpies, with one supporter suggesting that the FA Cup should be postponed until the goalkeeper is fit. Another added he is “not that keen on Darlow” – the man who is likely to replace Dubravka between the sticks.

Postpone the FA cup until he’s fit 👍
