Newcastle United: Magpies fans react to Andy Carroll’s return

According to The Chronicle, Andy Carroll is expected to make a return to first-team training when the Premier League’s enforced break finishes.
Chief football writer Lee Ryder reported Carroll had actually reunited with his teammates at Benton and made a brief comeback from hamstring and hip problems before the English top flight came to an abrupt halt as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
Speaking to the website, Steve Bruce said the former Liverpool striker “had been back on the training field. We had him joining in for the last couple of days.”
The 31-year-old signed a pay-as-you-play deal with the Magpies back in August and needs to earn himself some game time to reap the rewards.
Carroll started his career with his local side before moving to Merseyside for £36.9m during the January transfer window in 2011. The centre-forward has scored 33 goals and provided 25 assists in over 100 appearances for the Black and Whites in all competitions. His market value is rated at £3.6m via Transfermarkt.
Naturally a large portion of the Toon Army have weighed in on the report via social media. One angry fan remarked the latest update is just a ‘PR stunt.’
Check out some of the frustrated reactions we found…
In all seriousness Lee who bloody cares? Season will finish without another ball being kicked and the sick note will not earn another deal. Respect you have to keep a paper sports column running but this PR stunt from the club has run its course

Hilarious that he should return when there is zero prospect of any competitive football. Still get injured for sure!
