Newcastle United: Magpies fans react to club’s post

Loads of Newcastle United fans are fuming over a post from the club’s official Twitter account after the Magpies uploaded a national campaign from the Premier League on behalf of the NHS.
The Black and Whites shared a post asking supporters to stay at home and help the healthcare service in light of recent events.
Doctors and nurses across the globe joined forces to urge people to do more amid these difficult times by promoting a Stay Safe online campaign (Daily Mail).
The full caption reads “Stay home. Protect the NHS. Save Lives.”
However, as many fans pointed out, although well-intended, the club’s tweet contradicts Mike Ashley’s initial business decision earlier this week. Frasers Group, which is owned by the Newcastle boss and includes Sports Direct and Evans Cycles, told all its staff the shops will stay open amid the nationwide lockdown, prompting a government intervention.
Ashley faced a public backlash on social media with many accusing the chairman of profiting from the crisis at the expense of his staff.
Unsurprisingly loads of Geordies lashed out at the post, with one angry fan commenting he has “never been so ashamed of my club and it’s owner.”

A) cancel ST payments until the season restarts first.
B) Mike Ashley doesnt follow the government rules so maybe tweet this to him directly

shame our scummy owner doesn’t think the same way and was willing to put both his zero hours staff and the public at risk

Never been so ashamed of my club and it’s owner. Making a money grab on season ticket money now. Really? #nufc

How embarrassing is this

The message is great, the timing in terms of social media management is disastrous. Mike Ashley is a disgrace to the name of NUFC. #AshleyOut
