Lots of Newcastle United fans reacted to a post from the club's official Twitter account showing footage of Steven Taylor's hilarious antics in an old game against Stoke City.

As Yohan Cabaye lined up to take a free kick, Steven Taylor mercilessly distracted the Potters goalkeeper Asmir Begovic, and Cabaye scored a stunning finish.

The Magpies academy graduate made over 250 appearances for the Black and Whites between 2003-2016, scoring 15 goals and providing 6 assists in all competitions, before leaving St James' Park for MLS team Portland Timbers on a free transfer. He currently plays for A-League side Wellington Phoenix and his contract is set to expire in June 2022 (Transfermarkt).

Taylor completed 3.7 clearances per game, made 1.7 interceptions on average and earned a fairly low statistical rating of 6.64 in the Premier League during his final season with the club (SofaScore).

Although he struggled to make much of an impact on the pitch, the 34-year-old will always be remembered by the Tyneside faithful for his entertaining trolling.

Unsurprisingly a large portion of the Toon Army tweeted their reactions to the memorable clip, with one fan remarking "what a guy." Another added the "heart on sleeve type defender" had "great potential" but "should [sic] been more than he was."
