Newcastle United: Magpies plot to sign 16-year-old ‘record-breaking’ wonderkid

Newcastle United: Magpies plot to sign 16-year-old ‘record-breaking’ wonderkid - Newcastle United

According to a report from Football Insider, Newcastle United look set to plot a move for Portuguese prodigy Matchoi Bobo Djalo in the coming season along with other top European clubs – including Everton.

Djalo, who burst onto the scene with Portuguese outfit Pacos de Ferreira this season, has been turning the heads of clubs following his record-breaking appearance in the Primeira Liga – becoming the youngest player ever to make his debut in the top flight.

The 16-year-old, while making his first appearances for Pacos, has also become a mainstay in the team due to his flair and confidence on the ball at such a young age – with a host of Premier League clubs including the Magpies, Everton and Southampton keeping a watchful eye over his progress.

He is also highly regarded at international level, earning his first international call-ups to Portugal U17s and showing the same amount of assurance as he does for his club – possessing a quick burst of pace and low centre of gravity.

Indeed, if Djalo keeps progressing at his current rate, it look as if he could be a future asset for any club – with Steve Bruce’s Newcastle short on attacking flair bar the excelling Allan Saint-Maximin.

Given the fans’ love for Saint-Maximin, if Djalo were to sign a deal on Tyneside in future, it appears they may fall in love with his playing style as well – given his tendency to dribble and always look for the forward pass.

Whether Newcastle, like the host of other clubs reportedly interested in the teenager, actually make a bold swoop – only time will tell, but one thing is certain, the talent is definitely a hot prospect.
