Newcastle United: Magpies stunned by Curtis Good’s ridiculous last ditch tackle - Newcastle United

Plenty of Newcastle United supporters were stunned by footage of Melbourne City defender Curtis Good’s ridiculous last ditch tackle.

Good moved to Tyneside in the 2012 summer transfer window for a meagre fee of £464k and subsequently spent spells on loan at Bradford City and Dundee United (Transfermarkt).

The former flop only made 2 senior appearances for the Black and Whites during a six year stint at St James’ Park before returning to Australia and joining City on a free transfer in 2018 (Transfermarkt).

Good has featured in 20 games in the A-League this season, scoring 1 goal and providing 1 assist so far. The 26-year-old has also won a single cap for the national team, making his debut in March 2014 (Transfermarkt).

In light of recent events football fans worldwide have been eager to catch a glimpse of the beautiful game wherever they can and naturally a clip of the Australian defender making an incredible recovery went viral over the weekend.

Good’s initial header allowed former West Brom and Reading striker Simon Cox to tap the ball away from goalkeeper Tom Glover towards the back of the net, only for the former Magpie to rush back and clear the ball off the line.

The footage prompted tweets from a large section of the Toon Army, with one fan urging the board to “bring him back”. Take a look at some of the best reactions down below…
