The Salomon Rondon saga has met a new twist at Newcastle United.

Indeed, after the Venezualan’s amazing work for reviving Newcastle United’s season made him a hero to fans, who would surely love to see the former Zenit ace continue the club's tradition in having a big, bulking No.9 to worship even after his loan deal ends, it seems that the Mike Ashley regime has little time for him

After, the star striker’s stellar work, the Sports Direct mogul reportedly - according to the Daily Star - is still reluctant to fund a move to sign him on a permanent basis due to the South American's age.

Apparently, he is ready to fund a big-money move akin to Miguel Almiron’s one in January, but not for Rondon. Ashley will only pay big money for youngsters who’s market value will increase over time at St. James Park. Basically, he’s looking for profit even whilst signing a player who can possibly make big bucks for him in the future.

The joy.

This could be a massive blow to the Magpies fans’, who have fallen in love with Rondon’s thanks to his exploits. When it comes to Rafa Benitez, he’ll surely be further annoyed at this ridiculous decision and Ashley not agreeing to his demands for leading Newcastle towards a better future.

When you have a striker who’s the club’s top-scorer with 9 goals in 25 appearances, one could understand why Benitez is desperate to keep him. Indeed, even without the goals, his hold up play when it comes to bringing the likes of Miguel Almiron and Ayoze Perez into the game is invaluable.

Not backing a move for the 29-year-old would be a sure-fire way to annoy Rafa Benitez as his contract winds down.
