Newcastle United are braced for a huge season next year as they return to the Premier League, with the fans in the Transfer Tavern expressing their desire for the club to seal top-class signings.
Rafael Benitez’ side enjoyed an extremely successful campaign in the Championship this season, raising spirits ahead of their return to the top-flight, and the Spaniard has been offered the opportunity to seal a deal for a highly-coveted Premier League defender.
Chronicle Live reports Newcastle have been offered the signature of Hull City defender Harry Maguire ahead of the summer transfer window, following a 4-0 defeat to Crystal Palace yesterday which sealed relegation for the Tigers.
24-year-old Maguire is keen to remain in the Premier League and put contract talks with Hull on-hold until the club’s future was clear but relegation means he’s unlikely to enter negotiations, as his entourage will push for a summer switch.
Maguire has just one-year remaining on his deal with Hull and interest in his signature is high, with the likes of Tottenham, Everton and Liverpool reportedly keen on his services.
Our landlord has advised Newcastle to move for Maguire as he feels he would improve the squad significantly, as well as possessing huge sell-on value for the future.
