Newcastle United fans will be hoping the club can achieve Premier League survival by the end of the season as the locals in the Transfer Tavern can they start to become excited about possible summer transfers.
According to reports in the Northern Echo, should Rafa Benitez’s side beat the drop, they will be prepared to open talks with Martin Dubravka about a permanent stay. Indeed, those behind the scenes are said to have told him about their wish to keep him around in the long-term.
The goalkeeper, who is currently on loan from Sparta Prague, has already impressed those in the black and white stripes and the Magpies will consider executing a clause in his loan deal to keep him at St. James’ Park. It is believed it would cost them £4million to trigger, however, his performances have shown it would be worthwhile.
Dubravka has kept three clean sheets in his five matches so far and has proved himself to be ready to be playing at the top-level, which included a magnificent debut against Manchester United in which the Toon Army picked up the three points.
Newcastle fans in the Tavern will be jumping at the news that the club will be prepared to tie down Dubravka to a permanent deal should they ensure Premier League survival. The goalkeeper has already become a firm fan favourite and the locals will be desperate to see a deal get done.
