Newcastle United fans in the Transfer Tavern will be delighted their side edged near Premier League survival at the weekend with a crucial win against fellow relegation battlers Huddersfield Town.
The Magpies now look to be ready to spend on players for next season and Anderlecht winger Moses Simon is high on the list, according to HLN. The Belgian media outlet claims that Rafa Benitez’s side is interested in the Nigeria international, having sent scouts to watch him when they played Serbia in midweek.
Those who watched him were impressed with what they saw and are ready to make an offer for the 22-year-old and bring him to St. James’ Park in the summer. Simon has been performing well in the Jupiler League this season, having scored five times in 20 appearances and is wary of the interest from the Premier League outfit.
With one-year left on his current deal, Anderlecht could be tempted to sell the young winger and Newcastle will be ready to bring him across to England. Indeed, with the likes of Aleksandar Mitrovic and Chancel Mbemba proving popular figures after making similar moves from the Belgian league to Tyneside, our punters clad in black and white are certainly on board.
Newcastle fans in the Tavern will be pleased that the club is already looking to build for the future by identifying new transfer targets and Simon would be a good addition. The winger can play in a number of different positions, which would offer the Magpies cover should injuries become a factor.
Quality is needed at St. James’ Park and perhaps this could be a deal to deliver exactly that.
