With recent developments putting football on a backseat across the globe, everyone has been scraping through the days in isolation and quarantine, somehow trying to get through these difficult times.
Of course, all sports are currently simply not as important as they used to be, even for the professionals who make a living out of it, as health and safety have become priorities for everyone.
Piers Morgan, however, believes that professional football players, who are all young, fit and healthy, shouldn’t take unnecessary tests and spend resources that could be used for health care workers instead.
But Rob Elliot, Newcastle United’s goalie, was quick to hit out at the journalist, accusing him of spreading fear and speaking on matters he knows nothing about.
The two then collided on Twitter and exchanged a couple of messages with users observing everything in the comment sections below the posts.
You can see the exchange down below.
Message to all journalists with no medical expertise or qualifications. Stop spreading fear, panic and undermining the experts just to push your own self promotion.
