Steve Bruce has revealed he feels Newcastle United must improve on their finishing, as reported by The Express.
The Newcastle manager has claimed he will be working on the issue with his players over the international break.
The Magpies have scored three goals in their first four games, failing to score more than once in any match so far this season, as per WhoScored.
As the club’s record signing and star striker, Joelinton is likely to be the main beneficiary of this work, especially as he was the main focus of Bruce’s comments.
The Brazilian has been effective since making the move to St. James’ Park averaging 1 key pass and 0.8 dribbles per game, while completing 87% of his attempted passes.
However, he has only managed one goal so far, despite averaging 2.3 shots in each of his four matches – though in fairness, it was a well-taken and vital finish which earned a 1-0 victory against Tottenham Hotspur.
However, the numbers do indicate that he can be more clinical in the box, though as Bruce said, it was likely to take him some time to completely adapt to the Premier League.
This is certainly something that Newcastle can work on and Bruce is correct to do this during the international break in order to help improve results.
