Newcastle United takeover continuing with ‘serious’ runner despite recent report

The major narrative surrounding Newcastle United right now seems to be the state of their potential takeover. Indeed, with Mike Ashley putting the club up for sale a while ago now, talk of a pre-Christmas sale seems to have dried up a bit.

While have been suggestions a deal to bring a new owner to St. James’ Park was imminent, that idea has largely been scoffed at by our punters clad in black and white, who appreciate these things take time. So, comments from Daily Mail journalist Craig Hope on Twitter have been well received, with many glad that someone is talking sense.

He’s revealed that there is still a process to undertake before any such takeover can be completed, though the Amanda Staveley-led PCP party are understood to remain the only serious runner. Though it’s not exactly the exciting news many of our Geordie contingent were hoping for, it’s at least a realistic take on the matter and certainly a reason to be optimistic.

Landlord’s Verdict:

Yes, the fact that things are taking a while is obviously frustrating, this is still the closest Newcastle have been to being sold in the Mike Ashley era. Keep the faith, Toon Army members, thing are going to get a whole lot better in the coming weeks and months.
