While Joselu scored over the course of the weekend, the Newcastle United fans in the Transfer Tavern are under no illusions in regards to their attacking department.
Indeed, the Spaniard had games to forget against Brighton and Stoke City in front of goal and, while he’s a popular figure amongst the punters propping up our bar, may not be enough to carry the Magpies through a season.
Which is why recent comments from Scotland assistant manager Mark McGhee have proven so interesting. He claimed that, while watching the Toon’s game down in Brighton, he came to the conclusion that Celtic star Leigh Griffiths could play for either side.
The Magpies were credited with an interest in the forward over the course of the summer after his two stunning free-kicks against England at Hampden Park and has scored in the Champions League for the Bhoys.
Though the Scottish league may not be wholly respected by those south of the border, the 27-year-old has performed for both club and country over the years and could represent a relative coup for Newcastle, under an owner who doesn’t like splashing the cash.
So, we’re asking Newcastle fans, would you take Griffiths?Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
