Newcastle are in a desperate crisis just a matter of games into the season as Mike Ashley has once again left them with no funds to build on their 10th place from last season.
After promising Rafa Benitez a big budget to spend from, fans everywhere were overjoyed at the fact that they believed change was coming. Unsurprisingly though, the owner has let the club down and they seem to be facing the consequences this season, having failed to secure a win yet.
Unless of course they spend in January, which they should already be thinking about doing considering the predicament they find themselves in. A goalscorer is an absolute necessity in the transfer window and who better to sign than the Championship’s leading goalscorer – Neal Maupay.
Maupay, (who is valued at £4.5 million on Transfermarkt) Brentford’s front man, is well on his way to reaching the amount of goals he did for the entirety of last season and that is some achievement and a testament to his early form.
The 22-year-old has been on-fire, scoring eight goals in only seven appearances, as well as providing three assists for his team-mates to score from.
Maupay, who previously played for the French U21’s has become a star in the Championship but a move to a great, historic club like Newcastle could be a good idea for him as he aims to make his way up to the very top.
Newcastle, if they could recruit a player of his quality, would be astounded as he is exactly the kind of clinical goalscorer they have been after for years and never actually got. This in theory, would cast away any relegation fears as goals are the most important thing for a Premier League side.
