Newcastle’s best possible XI under Rafa Benitez

Newcastle’s best possible XI under Rafa Benitez

Newcastle United have plenty to improve on after making a rather sloppy start to their Premier League campaign, with a relegation battle possibly on the cards if they don’t seek improvements.

The Magpies aren’t in the best of shape as they look vulnerable defensively and are lacklustre when an opportunity comes about in front of goal. But, Rafa Benitez knows how to get a team out of a whole and even managed to secure Newcastle United 10th position in the last campaign.

It’s important that the Spaniard can find a settled side, but he may need a lot of luck to do so as injuries can impact his match selection.

So, in an ideal world where Newcastle United have a fully fit squad with no injuries or suspensions to speak of, here’s an idea of what Benitez’s strongest XI would look like…

NEWCASTLE UNITED’S STRONGEST POSSIBLE XI

We’ve gone with a 4-4-1-1 formation, as that is the formation that Benitez has looked to make use of so far this season and it fits all of the players into their respective positions nicely.

Paul Dummett, Jamaal Lascelles and Deandre Yedlin are three of the more established defenders in the side and will always be called upon if they remain fit. However, Benitez has struggled to find the perfect central defensive partnership at times, but Ciaran Clark’s Premier League experience puts him in great stead to succeed.

In midfield, the likes of Jonjo Shelvey and Mohamed Diame have pretty much cemented their places in the side and always manage to produce quality and work tirelessly for the full 90 minutes. Meanwhile, Matt Ritchie and Kenedy are two of the key components for the Magpies moving forward as they both bring two different things to the table, world-class delivery into the box and pace that terrorize’s defences.

Lastly, Ayoze Perez is very successful at working tirelessly and always manages to hurry the defenders by adopting a dogged approach, while supporting the lone striker. On the other hand, Salomon Rondon has already shown moments of brilliance since making the move during the summer, and Joselu is always prone to a dry scoring patch.
