Potential bargain Newcastle United transfer agreement revealed in report

Newcastle United fans here in the Tavern are delighted with debutant Martin Dubravka, as his heroics helped ensure all three points were taken away from yesterday’s encounter.

Rafa Benitez pulled off his most impressive victory as Newcastle United manager at the weekend, as the Magpies’ resilient performance rewarded them with a 1-0 win over rivals Manchester United. Indeed, a contender for Man of the Match was January loan signing Martin Dubravka, and it’s safe to say that yesterday’s performances has already seen the Slovakian establish himself as a fan favourite. And, the Chronicle Live says according to sources from Prague, United paid around £1.7 million to bring him on loan but have the option to bring him in for around £3.5 million at the end of the campaign.

Indeed, the Magpies uncovered a hero at the weekend, with the man who they originally only signed cause of his ability to play with his feet, now turning out to be a well-rounded superstar. But, if his last performance is a sign of things to come then the club won’t hesitate to take up the option of a permanent deal in the summer, with the reported £3.5 million proving to be a measly sum in comparison to his ability shown thus far. However, this would only happen if both the player and Newcastle United like the look of each other – and the club stays in the Premier League and can retain Benitez’s services.

In a goalkeeping department that’s caused trouble for Newcastle United so far this season, the capture of Martin Dubravka could be crucial to the future of the club if he can continue on with the fine standards he’s set. Although, with Rafa Benitez’s future looking less than certain for as long as Mike Ashley is in the picture, a potential deal may face implications later down the line.

Landlord’s Verdict:

The Magpies seem to have found themselves an absolute bargain in Martin Dubravka, and they’ll be hoping to complete a deal as soon as possible if he continues to impress. However, this is dependent on whether they can retain Benitez and ensure survival, which could be two troubling factors come the end of the season. Although, for a player that they originally only eyed up as a ball-playing ‘keeper, they look to have got the full package in Martin Dubravka.
