Newcastle United are still searching for their first win of the current campaign, with relegation to the Championship already being a worry for supporters.
The Magpies found themselves in a commanding position against Manchester United recently, but they threw it all away in the second half as the wait goes on for their first win. Indeed, it’s safe to say that Rafa Benitez has struggled to rally his troops so far this season, with plenty of players not living up to expectations.
Worryingly, the Spaniard has struggled for answers at times and has made a number of debatable managerial decisions this season, which has cost them dearly.
With that being said, here’s a look at TWO of Benitez’s biggest blunders…
Newcastle United managed to secure the services of Yoshinori Muto and Salomon Rondon during the summer transfer window, but neither player has really managed to make a big impact.
Although, this could all be down to Benitez’s inability to stick with the same forward as he has been know to chop and change between matches.
Also, the Newcastle boss has failed to open his eyes and notice what’s in front of him as Muto has had to settle for a place on the substitutes’ bench for large parts of the season, but was arguably head and shoulders above the likes of Rondon and Joselu against Manchester United on his first start for the club.
Rafa Benitez has failed to find the correct defensive formula in the current campaign as they continue to leak goals.
Indeed, Newcastle relied heavily on Jamaal Lascelles to dig them out of trouble in the last campaign, but the Englishman just hasn’t been able to ensure consistency so far this season.
But, instead of Benitez trying to identify a settled defensive partnership, he has constantly changed the pairing which has made it almost impossible to ensure consistency.
