Newcastle United fans in the Transfer Tavern will be watching the latest events at the club unfold with a close eye as they expect a busy summer.
The Magpies managed to beat the drop from the Premier League last season with some heroics, and a number of locals have been vocal in their praises for manager Rafa Benitez and the job he did in guiding them to a tenth place finish.
As such, the punters in the bar have called for him to be offered a new deal, and it now appears that an agreement can be reached soon.
And that’s because The Daily Mail are reporting that the board are confident in keeping the Spaniard at the club for next season following their top-half finish, with the former Liverpool boss set to be financially backed to help with their ambitions to make the club an established top ten side in English football’s top tier.
Landlord’s Verdict: The locals in the Tavern will be pleased that the club are confident that they can keep hold of a man like Benitez, and as such will be hoping and indeed expecting him to be backed in the transfer window.
The Spaniard had made demands that he would like, to be assured of what the future held for the club in terms of financial backing, and it appears he and Mike Ashley have come to some sort of agreement in news which is sure to delight and thrill our resident Magpies supporters.
