Yesterday evening saw a Rolando Aarons-lead Sheffield Wednesday add to Bolton Wanderer’s woes as they recorded a routine 2-0 win at the Macron Stadium. Goals either side of half-time undid the hosts, and after the game, the Owls flocked to congratulate the performance that their on-loan Newcastle winger put in as he bagged his first goal for the club.

Given how young Aarons was when he made his breakthrough at St James Park, it may come as a surprise to learn that the winger is still only 23-years-old. A career revival was never off the cards despite bizarre loans at Hellas Verona and Slovan Liberec, and that revival is well underway at Hillsborough under the close tuition of Steve Bruce. So much so that a playoff place isn’t out of the question for the Owls, despite a rocky start to the season.
The wins just keep on coming for the Hillsborough faithful and that is no small part down to the management of Bruce and the effectiveness of the January signings that were brought in. Aarons was one of those, and probably the most effective so far as going into the game he’d played three consecutive 90 minutes and even registered his first assist as an Owl in a 3-1 win over Swansea. The fans are hungry for more from Aarons though, and cannot wait to see if he becomes a permanent signing in summer.

The Owls simply cannot get enough of Aarons at the moment and are desperate for the winger to be snapped up on a permanent deal when the summer comes around.
