There’s been so much change at Newcastle United over the last few years, though the recent overhaul under Rafa Benitez has largely been a positive one.
With the Spaniard arriving on Tyneside in their darkest hour, the Geordies propping up the bar have been delighted to see him restore Premier League status to St. James’ Park.
Still, recent reports over his decision towards the Magpies’ longest-serving player have split opinion. Tim Krul has reportedly been told to find a new club as he trains with the youth squad at the club’s Benton HQ.
The Dutch stopper spent last season on loan AZ Alkmaar as he recovered from a long-term injury, though seemingly has no future in the North East. With Karl Darlow, Freddie Woodman and Rob Elliot currently battling it out for a starting berth between the sticks, it seems his 11-year stint on Newcastle’s books is up.
Having played for the club for so long, his likely exit was always likely to spark a reaction. That being said, here’s a look at how Newcastle fans saw it on Twitter.
I never forgave Krul for that James McCarthy goal he conceded in 2015. #NUFC

Don't understand why #nufc are pushing @TimKrul out: not many heros in the current squad & krul always capable of inspiring the team to win

Tim Krul was a great keeper and a fantastic servant for #nufc, but he is injury prone – which is bizarre for a GK. Rafa wants reliability.

Dont understand why fans complaining about Krul in reserves…1st team must focus on season ahead..why should he train with 1st? #nufc

It's such an inglorious end for Tim Krul's career at #nufc. It shouldn't have ended like this. Deserves another shot at a big club.

Fans moaning about Krul in the reserves,Rafa doesn't want people who aren't going to be involved in the squad. What's wrong with that? #nufc
