‘Sometimes he can give the ball away’ – Benitez delivers verdict on important Newcastle man

Newcastle United will be in a confident mood as they host Arsenal on Sunday afternoon and fans in the Transfer Tavern will be sharing that feeling, especially with the form their side is showing.

The Magpies have had a fine 2018 in the Premier League and have become one of the most difficult teams to beat following the festive period, which has led to Rafa Benitez to receive many of the plaudits.

The Spanish manager is always quick to share those praises with his players but is also always keen to look ahead to the next game as a job is not done, and believes Ayoze Perez is one of those to be worthy of just rewards. Speaking with the Shields Gazette, Benitez has claimed the forward has been working hard in training and it has started to show, having scored in Newcastle’s last two matches against Leicester City and Huddersfield Town.

“He’s doing a great job for the team,” he told the Shields Gazette.

“Sometimes he can give the ball away, and he has to be more composed.

“But he’s working so hard and he gives us so many options, and if he can score these kind of goals, much better for the team.

“It’s important to have players working hard, also with some quality they can do these kind of things.”

A divisive figure amongst those on Tyneside, our punters clad in black and white are delighted to see him thriving right now and hope the Spaniard can take this kind of form into the next campaign.

Landlord’s Verdict

Newcastle fans in the Tavern will be delighted with the form that Perez is starting to show at the right end of the season. The locals had been super critical about the Spaniard’s performances during the majority of the campaign, however, a number of punters will now be pleased to see him doing more on the pitch and making an impact.
