It’s a miserable time to be a Newcastle United fan indeed.
A winless start to the season has followed yet another terribly frustrating summer transfer window in which the supporters have fumed at the Mike Ashley regime. Indeed, after failing to splash the cash once again, the Magpies appear to be at a crossroads right now and the quality in their squad is quite clearly lower than it could be.
Equally as frustrating for the Toon Army is the lack of understanding a variety of pundits around the game have on the situation. Not only is Ashley’s scandalous running of the club often ignored, the club’s supporters are often branded as unrealistic and it’s questioned as to what they are moaning about.
That, by literally every stretch of the imagination possible, is wrong. Newcastle United supporters don’t demand success, they just want it known that the Sports Direct mogul is taking them for a ride and has done for years, not even giving a long-suffering fanbase a reason to dream.
So, it’s up to those connected with the club to raise awareness for the situation on social media. With that in mind, former Toon star Steve Howey recently took to Twitter to fight his former club’s corner, reiterating the quite frankly ridiculous stat that both Brighton and Huddersfield have blown the Geordies out of the water in the transfer market.

It's incredible how some pundits can pontificate to us without looking at the facts. Well done for continuing to speak up for the supporters @stevehowey624
