Newcastle fans will be pleased with their business in the transfer window so far but will be hoping for some more arrivals before deadline day.

After impressing on loan, Mikel Merino and Martin Dubravka both completed permanent moves to St. James Park to bolster Rafael Benitez’s squad next season. The Spaniard also landed Swansea midfielder, Ki Seung-Yung on a free transfer after his contracts with the Swans expired. The Newcastle faithful will be hoping Mike Ashley backs the former Liverpool boss with some transfer funds as we approach deadline day.

The biggest move of the transfer window so far has seen Cristiano Ronaldo complete a historic move from Real Madrid to Juventus for around £99m. The Old Lady may be forced to offload a number of their star players in order to finance the deal for the Portuguese superstar. And following the arrival of Emre Can, Stefano Sturaro could be sold this summer.

Valued at £6.75m by Transfermarkt, the Italian could be an excellent signing for the Magpies. Sturaro has failed to break into the first-team at Juventus since arriving from Genoa back in 2014. He made 19 appearances in all competitions last season but started only seven games in the Serie A.

The Italian is a strong, combative midfielder who will have no issues adapting to the physicality of the Premier League. While he is not the most technically gifted footballer, he will slot seamlessly into the Newcastle midfield alongside Jonjo Shelvey. Potentially available at a great price, Sturaro could prove to be an astute piece of business.
