Townsend joins, Permanent deal for Kenedy: Newcastle United’s perfect July

Newcastle United fans here in the Tavern are hoping for a better season next time out after struggling to ensure consistency throughout the last campaign. Although, enjoying a strong July would put them in great stead.

Rafa Benitez’s men showed what they were capable of on the final day of the Premier League season against Chelsea, but lacked quality at times when it came down to facing teams that placed near them in the table.

Fortunately, there’s still plenty of time left before the start of next season and the transfer window is in full flow, with a couple of pieces of business going a long way this month.

So, it’s important that the Magpies really put their foot down in the month of July as this would set them up nicely for the next campaign. And, with players being linked with moves away, finding replacements will be vital.

Without further ado, here’s TWO things that could give Newcastle supporters the successful month they’ve been waiting for…

Andros Townsend joins

Newcastle United are in need of some inspiration out on the flanks after lacking creativity at times last season.

The Magpies are currently pondering a bid for Crystal Palace winger Andros Townsend but only if they decide to sell Matt Ritchie to Stoke City. Although, with Benitez keen on bringing the Englishman to St James’ Park, he may be open to letting Ritchie depart this month.

It’s vital that Benitez brings Townsend to the club this month as it will give them a huge boost heading into the new campaign, with many of our local northerners even going as far as saying that European football could be a possibility if the deal goes through.

Kenedy signs permanently

The Brazilian was one of the Magpies’ standout performers in the last campaign, netting three goals and providing one assist.

But, having returned to his parent club Chelsea, Newcastle are said to be in negotiations to sign him on a permanent deal.

This would be an incredible bit of business as the 22-year-old has a huge amount of potential and could take the Magpies to the next level.

So, supporters may receive the news that they’ve all been waiting for at some point this month if a deal can be sorted, as Benitez continues to make all the right moves.
