There is no denying the fact that Newcastle United, a lot of the time, are not the most exciting of sides to watch.
Alongside Norwich City, the Magpies are rock bottom in the Premier League for goals scored, registering just 25 all season (via WhoScored).
When there is a bit of excitement at St. James’ Park, though, midfielder Jonjo Shelvey and winger Allan Saint-Maximin are usually the instigators behind it. According to Transfermarkt, the former has a market valuation of £16.2m — up from his June 2019 valuation of £13.5m — and when you look at some of his numbers from the current campaign, you can see why.
The 28-year-old is actually Newcastle’s leading goalscorer in the league with five strikes, as well as the team’s chief playmaker. Although Shelvey is yet to register an assist in English football’s top flight this season, he has still been a pretty creative individual.
How much is Jonjo Shelvey worth?
£15m or more

Less than £15m

With 1.8, he is currently averaging the joint-most key passes per league game in Newcastle’s squad. On top of that, only goalkeeper Martin Dubravka (8.5) is completing more successful long balls than the England international (4.8), further showing his ability to play more creative and dangerous passes.
Undoubtedly, Shelvey is one of the few bright sparks in Steve Bruce’s side, helping Newcastle keep afloat in the top tier of English football.
