Newcastle are a team really struggling this season and once again, the pressure mounts on Rafa Benitez to deliver another masterclass and help them beat this crisis.
Having propelled them to 10th place last season, Rafa Benitez was promised big funds and that should have been delivered given how well he did to manage that group of players to achieve a top ten finish in their first season back in the top flight.
Unsurprisingly though, Mike Ashley didn’t give him the money required to improve Newcastle and so it is no shock to see the Magpies flirting with the relegation zone once again.
Time after time Newcastle have failed to get it right in the transfer market and that simply has to improve in January. Squad depth and quality is a giant issue for them and bringing in Liverpool’s Alberto Moreno is a deal worth considering.
Moreno, (who is valued at £9 million on Transfermarkt) is currently in his last year at Liverpool and a new deal seems unlikely given how few times he plays for the Reds.
Newcastle’s eyes should then light up at the opportunity of getting the Spaniard on a cut-price deal in January as he would be an addition sure to improve the Magpies.
Paul Dummett continues to be a great left-back for Newcastle but should he find himself injured or unable to play for some reason, Newcastle will be stuck in a predicament as to who should fill the void. Not only could Moreno play there but also further forward as a winger and if a deal could be struck between Benitez and his former club, they have to do it.
