The Newcastle fans in the Transfer Tavern have been hating all of the transfer noise surrounding the club over the last few days. Almost every news outlet is shouting about Matt Ritchie leaving St James Park and according to reliable journalist Mark Douglas, Stoke are heavily pushing for the move.
So no Ritchie deal agreed just yet – even if Stoke pushing.
Good. Although selling him would hint at raising cash for further investment I think he symbolises all that's been good about last two years at #nufc. Plus he scored the most important goal of last season (v Man U)

Matt Ritchie may not be the most talented player at Newcastle, but his work rate and passion for the club is to be commended. The Magpies all love their Scottish winger and in his two years with the club, he’s proven that is more than happy to play for the shirt and put the needs of the club and the fans above his own demands as a player. Despite all this though, he could be pedalled off to Stoke in the coming weeks.
Ritchie scored some very important goals for the Geordies last season, with none coming bigger than his second-half strike against Manchester United at St James Park in February as the Toon army recorded a famous 1-0 win over Jose Mourinho’s side in their debut season back in the top flight. Now though, the man responsible for that win could be leaving for a fee of around £15 million as Rafa Benitez looks to raise funds for some key players to be brought in over the next month or so.
You can see what our sentimental Magpies think of Ritchie here:
I will be gutted to see Ritchie go regardless of who comes in. Letting him go is a big mistake

It’s not good if nobody’s lined up to replace him & according to all the reports from local media we’re a long way off that?

We wouldn’t have got promoted without him & we would’ve been relegated without him. Very risky move.

Any chance of keeping him Mark?? #NUFC

I'll be fairly gutted to see him leave but if helps finance deals for Townsend & Kennedy then fair enough. We need to evolve after last season and inject a lot more pace into the team.

Straight swap for Shaqiri for me

Wouldn’t sell….he does the hard yards and is a good influence

Whilst selling Ritchie might be the right move, fans are reluctant because he epitomises everything that the club looks for in a player.
