The Newcastle United fans here in the Transfer Tavern really are eager for a welcome boost. Indeed, after an awful run of results of late, the punters propping up our bar desperately need something to shout about.
As takeover talk on Tyneside rumbles on, those who are clad in black and white propping up our bar want a reason to smile heading into this weekend’s crunch clash with Leicester City at St. James’ Park. Well, while it’s not quite photographic evidence of Amanda Staveley and her backers closing a deal with Mike Ashley, a pleasing image has emerged.
An official snap (via Ben Dinnery) of Jamaal Lascelles returning to training ahead of the Foxes’ visit has helped calmed the nerves of some of our resident Geordies this evening, who’d love him back to battle a certain Jamie Vardy. The 24-year-old has missed the Magpies’ last four games, in which they’ve conceded 12 goals.

Ciaran Clark and Florian Lejeune haven’t looked as good without him marshalling the backline and, while no confirmation in regards to his fitness has been revealed, to see him back on the training pitch is a pleasing sight.
With Newcastle shipping goals of late, having Lascelles back in action should be a major boost. If he can feature from the start on Saturday, the Magpies might have half a chance.
