Wasted Newcastle United career over with agreement reportedly reached

Newcastle United fans in the Transfer Tavern will want to see the side strengthen this summer as they look to compete once again in the Premier League.

There have been some concerns amongst the locals in the bar recently, with rumours starting to circulate that Rafa Benitez’s future is not clear, although he will be at the club next season.

One man whose future lies away from the club is Massadio Haidara, whose contract expires at the end of the month and is set for a return to France, according to a report by Football365 Africa, via Football365 France.

It is believed that he has agreed to a two-year deal with RC Lens in the French Ligue 2, which has the option for an additional year. The 25-year-old has had a disastrous career at Newcastle since arriving in the north-east and will be looking to revive it as quickly as possible.

Landlord’s Verdict

A number of the locals will not be disappointed to see Haidara depart from the club this summer, as he failed to make a real impact during his time with them. While he was unfortunate with injuries during his time on Tyneside, you can’t help but feel as if he’s wasted his career.

Left-back was a problem for the Toon Army for years and Haidara never truly made the most of the void, wasting his chance of becoming a mainstay.

His departure will allow for Benitez to have some available wage space available for new additions, allowing him to spend on areas that require strengthen before the new season.
