Newcastle are heading towards a very challenging season seeing as their early form isn’t that of the top ten team they were last season.
Rafa Benitez wasn’t given a great deal to work with over the summer seeing as owner Mike Ashley limited his spending budget, despite promising to provide money after a 10th place finish.
Without a win heading into the international break, Benitez is already poised to be looking ahead to the January transfer window, in order to recruit some more players who could turn out to be influential.
St James’ Park needs a lift and for that to happen, they need to pick up their form and look to January as an opportunity to show their desire to succeed this season.
Danny Welbeck, (who is valued at £13.5 million on Transfermarkt) has been at Arsenal since 2014 yet never really established himself as an Arsenal striker. The Englishman has terrific work-rate and energy but forwards are there mainly to score goals, whereas 28 goals in 114 appearances isn’t suggesting Welbeck is of the clinical sort.
However, the 27-year-old has never been given a long run in the team to make amends for his poor goal-scoring record and that’s where Newcastle could sweep in and prize him away from the Emirates.
Teams have shown in the Premier League that it isn’t always about the raw talent player have but their ability to be a team-player and help in all scenarios over the pitch. Danny Welbeck has excellent attributes as a forward that could make him a star at St James’ Park, should new signings Rondon and Muto continue to be goal-shy.
