Worrying transfer report sheds insight to latest mess for Newcastle United fans

Newcastle fans here in the Tavern are displeased with their sides transfer window business thus far, as time begins to work against the Magpies and their Premier League survival.

Indeed, there’s no doubt that if Newcastle United are to continue their legacy in the English top-flight, then the addition of a striker is going to be crucial in these last couple of days of the transfer window. But, supporters have been left frustrated, an emotion that’s been felt at St James’ Park all too frequently this season. As according to reports in the Mail Online, Newcastle missed out on the signing of Daniel Sturridge as he opted to join Midlands side West Bromwich Albion.

Newcastle United were hoping that striker Daniel Sturridge would become a permanent signing beyond the end of the season, this was until West Brom snatched him from the clutches of the Tyneside club. Indeed, the club believed they had their man as a deal was supposedly agreed that involved £1.5 million in loan fees, along with them covering his £130,000 per week wage. And, talk of a future at St James’ Park was something that Sturridge was also open to. Therefore, with them expecting for the player to travel to the North East yesterday, news left Rafa Benitez and the Magpies’ hierarchy in a bad state, after his agent claimed the snub was down to geographical reasons as his family are based in the Midlands.

In a season that’s been full of disappointment with signings becoming a rarity for a club that used to be so prominent, fans are on the brink of breaking point after missing out on a potential saviour for the Toon Army. Something that could spell potential trouble in terms of their future in the top-flight, as the hunt for a striker begins to heat up for the Magpies.

Landlord’s Verdict:

This could potentially be a huge blow for the Magpies, for a player that could have ensure the goals they’ve been craving so far this season. But, in a situation that turned out to be way out of their hands, all they can do now is focus on bringing in a suitable striking outlet over the next couple of days with time now running out.
