The Newcastle United fans in the Transfer Tavern were happy to come away from the weekend without losing a crucial six-pointer away at Crystal Palace and do not want to think about their relegation battle at all.
With that in mind, comments from Jack Colback have at least taken their minds off of all things related to the Premier League table right now. The Magpies midfielder, who finally left St. James’ Park on loan over the course of deadline day, was critical of his treatment under Rafa Benitez after being dropped from the squad altogether following a bust-up in the summer.
Not a popular figure on Tyneside, the former Sunderland man had failed to impress in black and white since his controversial switch across the Tyne-Wear divide back in 2014 and the fact he’s spoken out against Rafa was never likely to go down well.
With that in mind, here’s a look at how Newcastle fans reacted to Colback’s comments.
‘Big enough not to be upset by it’. Yeah right. You were told you were surplus yet still expected to be involved in the first team?

He was surplus to requirements happens all the time in football. He is just bitter no other mugs would give him a contract with 70k a week .

Sound a lot like excuses to me from Colback.

Not that complex, Colback under performed for nearly 2 seasons, was told he had no future at the club, the club found suitors for him he declined, threw a tantrum and got put in the u23’s
