Newcastle fans here in the Tavern are hoping that their side can overcome a relegation challenge, as controversy once again promotes negative vibes on Tyneside.
Rafa Benitez’s first year back in the Premier League is proving a stressful one, as Mike Ashley’s sale of the club is still being greeted with complications in the midst of a relegation dogfight.
Indeed, as if things couldn’t get anymore difficult for the Magpies, they just did. As according to reports in the Sun, Newcastle winger Yasin Ben El-Mhanni is close to quitting life on Tyneside, as they continue to investigate racial and bullying claims made against Peter Beardsley.
Subsequently, the Moroccan has been on the receiving end of a tough time at the St. James’ Park, as the 22-year-old is hoping they can resolve the current issue after filing a grievance report against the academy manager.
And, with the saga proceeding to drag on even further, Newcastle are looking to find a resolution as soon as possible.
Indeed, for a player that’s found it impossible to break into the Magpies’ first-team, perhaps a move away would suit the progress of El-Mhenni. As Wolverhampton Wanderers, Stoke City and Cardiff City are all believed to have made contact over a possible move for the tricky winger this month.
For a player that’s craving success of the highest order, there’s only so much that Newcastle United can do for the young man, and right now a relegation fight isn’t going to provide the opportunities that the Moroccan desires.
There’s no doubt that El-Mhenni has the makings of a quality player at a high level, but with him struggling to get into the Newcastle side this season, a move away would be more suited for the winger.
Nevertheless, if the Magpies don’t manage to avoid the drop then there will be the opportunity to progress in the Championship for the 22-year-old. However, with all the controversy surrounding Beardsley and the accusations, you struggle to see him having a future on Tyneside.
