With the Toon preparing to launch a fresh assault on the Premiership this season, albeit after a brief absence, it’s about time we reminded ourselves of what our friends from the North East have already contributed to the top flight of English football.
They have boasted some cracking strikers in recent times with Shearer, Martins, Smith and N’Zogbia all contributing to this wonderfully non-partisan compilation of blisteringly good goals. Ruud Gullit would’ve been proud to have witnessed much of this sexy football (had he kept his job for more than a year) whilst Jackie Milburn will be ruing that his extraordinary feats in front of goal never got any television coverage.
Watching this video I almost forgot they were only in the Championship last season.
