Chelsea and Charlton fans in the Transfer Tavern are pleased to see academy prospect Jay Dasilva re-sign for the Addicks on loan for the entire season.
The 19-year-old is yet to play for Chelsea but has signed a new four-year deal at the club after impressing while on loan at Charlton last season. He’s now returned to the Valley for the 2017-18 campaign for a second stint.
He played 10 times for the Addicks during last season with Charlton boss Karl Robinson telling the club website: “He brings pace, talent, desire and a willness to improve.”
Despite being such a young age, Dasilva already has more than his fair share of experience. He captained England’s Under-19s to European Championship glory over the summer and he’s also a won the FA Youth Cup three times as well as UEFA’s Youth League twice in his short career so far.
Both sets of fans at the bar are excited over the full-back’s potential and see his loan move down to the Valley as essential to his development. He’s very unlikely to take part in Antonio Conte’s first-team so acquiring some competitive football seems like the best idea.
Chelsea fans on Twitter seem to rate Dasilva and are slightly surprised he didn’t stay or atleast go on loan to a Championship club. Here’s what a few fans had to say:
He's a wonderful talent, reckon he should be aiming for the PL next season?

Good for continuity as he'll probably go straight into first XI, but feel he should have gone to Cham'ship by now like Ugbo, Tammy, Tomori

But fans of Charlton were simply over the moon that Dasilva had decided to re-join them for another season, suggesting he has the makings of a new Ashley Cole. Here’s what they said on Twitter:
