The Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern will be very pleased as their move for young 17-year-old Adrian Bernabe nears completion, with the player himself posting a goodbye message to Barcelona on Instagram. The young attacking midfielder will be leaving Barcelona’s B side to play for Manchester City’s U18 team.

Although no deal has been officially confirmed just yet, Diario Sport (via Football-Espana) believe that he will join Manchester City at the end of the month and be integrated into the youth system.
The young Spaniard has been likened to Lionel Messi and it will come as no surprise that he’s decided to leave Barcelona to play under Pep Guardiola, the man who has been credited with pushing Messi on from being a great player to the greatest ever player. Bernabe will come to The Etihad as a relative unknown, but he will be keen to muck in and be around the likes of Phil Foden and Brahim Diaz in competition for first-team opportunities.
The young Spanish prodigy only turned 17 back in May, so a move abroad to play football for the Premier League champions certainly represents a huge step for the youngster who almost everyone is backing to have a big future. Under Guardiola, it’s expected that Bernabe will shine as many young players have done previously. Guardiola handed the likes of Sergio Busquets, Thiago, Joshua Kimmich, Alexis Sanchez and Kingsley Coman their league debuts at Bayern Munich and Barcelona, and Bernabe will be hoping he can be added to that list and make his Premier League debut under Pep.

Whilst some City fans will be waiting to see if he can stand up alongside Foden and Diaz, there is definite excitement about the arrival of Bernabe.
