Newcastle United will only be focused on climbing up the Premier League table from here on in until the end of the season, after a rather inconsistent first half of the campaign.
The Magpies managed to bring in the likes of Miguel Almiron and Antonio Barreca during the January transfer window, so they’ll be hoping that the pair of them make instant impacts at St James’ Park.
However, February could turn out to be a month to forget if results don’t go their way, with new signings and current stars possibly crumbling under the pressure.
Therefore, here is the nightmare February for Newcastle United…
ALMIRON STRUGGLES IN BEHIND RONDON
Salomon Rondon has been the standout performer for Newcastle United up until this point in the current campaign, having found the back of the net on a number of occasions.
However, he’ll need to adjust slightly at the pinnacle of the attack with January signing Miguel Almiron now at the club, as they’ll need to build a partnership and really get to know how the ins and outs of each other.
Indeed, this could go horribly wrong as Almiron is used to operating behind someone likes Josef Martinez who adopts a completely different approach to Rondon, with pace being a key part of how Atlanta United move the ball.
SLIP INTO RELEGATION TROUBLE
The Magpies have a number of big fixtures coming up in the month of February, which could decide their fate.
Indeed, the likes of Wolves, Huddersfield and Burnley will face up against Newcastle United this month, so Rafa Benitez could soon find his side slipping into relegation trouble if they fail to beat the teams below them.
This would be an absolute disaster, considering how much they’ve progressed over the past couple of months.
