Everton currently find themselves in a slump after losing their last two Premier League fixtures, with a European spot now out of reach at this moment in time.
The Toffees desperately need to seek improvements if they are to stand any chance of taking anything away from the current campaign, with a top seven finish looking unlikely.
Of course, the January transfer window could be make or break for Marco Silva’s side, with the opportunity to bring in quality players. But, potential departures and failing to strengthen in the right areas could also halt their progress.
With that being said, here is the nightmare January for Everton…
FAIL TO OFFLOAD PLAYERS
Marco Silva has a rather large squad at his disposal but a number of his current first-team members have no future at the club. Indeed, with the January transfer window now here, it’s vital that the Portuguese boss looks to get rid of any dead weight, as the likes of Cenk Tosun, Oumar Niasse and Morgan Schneiderlin have all been disappointing.
But, failing to do so could have a negative impact on the players they’re able to bring in, as the Merseyside club will need to sell in order to go out and splash the cash on potential additions.
MARCO SILVA LOSES OUT ON SIGNING NEW NO.9
Everton have had to deploy Richarlison at the pinnacle of the attack at times in the current campaign, with Cenk Tosun failing to produce a consistent flow of goals.
The Toffees weren’t able to find the back of the net against Leicester City and Brighton and Hove Albion, so it’s clear to see that a new No. 9 is required.
But, failing to bring a striker to the club this month could force them to drop even further down the table, as Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin have been unreliable.
