Nightmare January: Liverpool - Liverpool

Liverpool will be desperate to return to winning ways after Thursday’s defeat against Manchester City, with the Premier League title race now wide open.

The Reds still hold a four point advantage at this moment in time but that could soon disappear if they fail to ensure consistency from here on in, with games against Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea still to come.

Indeed, this month could turn out to be a very decisive one in terms of the title race, with the opportunity to strengthen in the January transfer window. Jurgen Klopp will need to bring in a couple of players to boost his side’s silverware chances, but missing out on potential targets could make things difficult as the season progresses.

With that being said, here is the nightmare January for Liverpool…

Liverpool have the best defensive record in the Premier League by a long mile, with 10 goals conceded at this moment in time.

However, the right side of defence struggled to deal with Manchester City’s threat, as Dejan Lovren was at fault for City’s first and the second goal also came against the right side.

Therefore, Jurgen Klopp will need to splash out on a replacement for Lovren as he can be seen as a liability at the heart of the defence, with errors frequently occurring.

The Reds have arguably one of the most dangerous attacks in the whole of world football, but an injury could seriously harm their title push.

It’s understood that Liverpool are interested in securing the services of Timo Werner.

Supporters will be desperate for the Reds to secure the services of the German as he could take their attack to the next level and would ensure a consistent flow of goals, which could prove vital from here on in until the end of the season, so signing him is a must.

But, missing out on him would put their title push in doubt as additional firepower is required.
