The Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to a rumour from Jack Gaughan in The Daily Mail surrounding their star-striker and all-time record goalscorer, Sergio Aguero. The Argentine left Atletico back in summer 2011 for The Etihad and hasn’t looked back, scoring an incredible 199 goals in his seven seasons with the Manchester club.
Atlético Madrid will make an approach to re-sign Sergio Agüero from Manchester City this summer. [@Jack_Gaughan]

Sergio Aguero has been a key star in the Manchester City side, despite falling slightly out of favour under Pep Guardiola in recent seasons. Despite this, he’s still scoring goals, dazzling fans and holding off competition from his young Brazilian teammate, Gabriel Jesus. Aguero has won three Premier League titles, three League Cups and an FA Cup in his time with the Citizens, and will probably go down as their greatest ever player.
Considering all of this, it would be ludicrous for the 29-year-old to consider a move away from the Etihad, although he could be doing just that. Interest has been reported from Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid, with the striker having to weigh up a potential return to Atletico, playing alongside Antoine Griezmann at the club’s new stadium, The Wanda Metropolitano. If Aguero is to leave, the send-off for the striker at Manchester City would be incredible, as they’d be celebrating their most influential player, who has dragged them through seasons winning trophies on the way on more than one occasion.
