BBC Sport seem to have some good news for Chelsea fans who have just recorded their first win of the New Year and are a bit more joyful in the Football Transfer Tavern.
The Blues will be keeping hold of long serving keeper Petr Cech with Blues boss Jose Mourinho claiming that there is ‘no chance’ he will be leaving for another club – in England or abroad.
This is of course because third choice Mark Schwarzer has left for Leicester City and the Blues are cautious of being left without a top quality back-up option.
Given Cech has featured in cup games this term and has also filled in for Thibaut Courtois when the Belgian star was injured and not even put a foot wrong, we think that sitting on the bench for the second half of the season is slightly unfair but that is the problem when you have two top class stoppers.
As one of our punters notes, it is a problem that a fair few of Chelsea’s rivals would love to have – namely Liverpool!
Chelsea fans. Is this the best news you could have been given this January, bar Lampard fleeing for the MLS of course? Let us know your thoughts below.
