The Manchester United fans in the transfer Tavern have been reacting to their club’s tweet, wishing Ivorian defender, Eric Bailly, a happy 24th birthday. The centre-back has been a revelation under Jose Mourinho and has become one of the best defenders in the league since moving from Villarreal to Manchester last summer.

Manchester United have come under heavy criticism from fans and pundits alike for the shocking displays put in by defensive duo Chris Smalling and Phil Jones, although the same can’t be said of Eric Bailly. The defender has looked well in his element in a United shirt, more than proving the price tag that United paid for him and at such a young age, things can only get better for the impressive stopper.
The United fans propping our bar up can put their incredible defensive record in the Premier League down to the heroics of both Bailly and their world-class ‘keeper David De Gea. The club has the league’s second-best defensive record, conceding just 25 goals in their 32 league, second only to their Manchester rivals, City, who have conceded one less with 24. The fans appreciation for Bailly is well documented and the Red Devils will be hoping they can hold onto their impressive defender for the coming years.
