Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku has given us something to talk about today in the Football Transfer Tavern after the latest claim from the Metro.
The Belgian forward has faced some speculation over his future and after spending the last season on loan at West Bromwich Albion, it seemed the player and indeed Chelsea were leaning towards another loan spell for the former Anderlecht man in order to get him that first team action he vitally needs to progress and improve his game.
That of course was all before Jose Mourinho returned to Stamford Bridge and now it seems Lukaku is set to become Mourinho’s 2013 version of Didier Drogba – an unstoppable powerhouse of a forward.
The Belgium international claimed on his instagram account that: “I will train every single part of my body to be twice as good as last year.
“Stronger, faster, bring more quality into my game just to be as deadly as the great masters of the game.
“It will be hard but when you work hard you play hard. Season 13-14 is the season when I stop playing like a boy and will play as a MAN.”
It is hard not to compare the 20-year-old to former star man Didier Drogba and he is certainly in the Mourinho mould. The striker is not fazed by the links with Edinson Cavani nor the current duo of Demba Ba and Fernando Torres and will fight for his place in the starting eleven.
Will Lukaku be given a fair crack of the whip at Stamford Bridge this season? Rate this rumour below.
